Situated between the lac d'Annecy to the north and Chambery to the South the Bauges massif is often ignored as skiers head to the big Savoie resorts. There are only a few small resorts but the area is well known to local off-piste skiers and ski tourers. The couloirs of the Pointe d'Arcalod have been skied and rival, in terms of steepness and engagement, those of the more well known Mont Rosa in Italy!
