Termignon Off Piste

Ski-Areas > Northern Alps > Savoie (73) > Maurienne > Termignon > Off Piste

Termignon really comes into its own for anyone who wants to fix skins to their skis and climb a little. There is some lift served off-piste skiing in the trees between the runs. There are also a couple of longer off-piste runs.

Tannes Forest

The Tannes forest is reached from the Maure plateau. Take the Lac drag lift and traverse to la Maure 100 meters lower to the south. Ski westwards to Porteille on a ridge then turn to the north at around 2100 meters. The skiing is gentle and the forest widely spaced until around 1820 meters. Here you need to traverse the Merderet brook, do not hang around at this point as it is an avalanche path from the Mémollard couloirs. Pick up a narrow forest trail on the far side which brings you back to Termignon.

la Porteille

From la Maure it is possible to ski west to the Porteille and continue to a cross at 2000 meters. Here follow a trail to Sollières. Be careful in the forest as their are cliffs to your left. There is a second cross at 1695 m (croix du milieu du bois). From Sollières you would need to take a prebooked taxi or hitch hike back to Termignon. Alternatively at 1440 meters there is a path which leads to the chemin du Petit Bonheur to return to Termignon (around 2.5km flat polling), take a track on the left after crossing a bridge.
