The Dent de Crolles is one of the must do mountains surrounding the alpine capital of Grenoble. There is only one problem, a small 40° passage, not by itself a major challenge but the south facing slope is frequently icy and is directly above a 500 meter cliff face. Get it wrong and it is a B.A.S.E. jump without a parachute. As we found during the recent fine weather it is all a question of judging the snow conditions.
