Chamonix Freeride Dayz

We just had time to unpack, wash, dry and repack our ski gear from a Pyrenean ski tour then we were off again to the end of season Freeride Dayz (the ‘Z’ seems to be new this year).

Over the first bank holiday weekend in May we climbed around 5,000 meters over four days, on foot and on skis in the Gavarnie area. Returning to Paris on the night TGV everything went into the wash and then we loaded the car for Cham.

The Freeride Days are the traditional French season closing event.  It takes places at the Grands Montets.  On the 8/9 access on the GM cable car is free, instead of the usual 5 Euros per ride.  Then the party kicks off with a fun park, base jumping from helicopters and a waterslide.
