Not 100% what you are looking for but Mammut have launched a free iPhone app, here are the details

The all new Mammut Safety App aims to help snow sport enthusiasts in assessing the local avalanche risk: It features a clinometer to estimate the slope angle, a compass to determine the slope exposition, and an altimeter. Furthermore, the application includes links to all the avalanche bulletins worldwide and the personal safety equipment requirements.

http://www.mammut.ch/en/safetyapp.html

Many of the avalanche bulletins give weather forecasts.

Here are a couple more

Point de Vue

Where is the Eiger? What is the name of this mountain? Can we see the Matterhorn?

From your location or anywhere in Switzerland and around Point de Vue synthesizes the landscape and allows you to identify the summits around, as far as 200 km away.

REALSKI

For the first time, skiers and snowboarders can use augmented reality (AR) for navigating trails and on-mountain features at select North American ski resorts.

REALSKI utilizes the camera, compass, GPS, and other 3GS features to overlay ski runs and key points of interest in augmented reality.

Version 1.0 Lite includes demo maps for five resorts with a full version supporting most resorts in North America coming soon.

they are developing a European Version (allegedly)

Hi

The iPhone ski app I have, and love, is iTrailmap 3D. It contains loads of piste-maps from all over the world, but the real cool feature is a 3D map rendering of each mountain. You can use pinch-gestures to zoom in and out and turn the 3d map around. You get a gps-location of where you are, you can upload it to a homepage and get a summary of altitude and distance traveled, as well as a map plotting of the skiing, all to show your friends.

All in all, this is just too cool an app to miss out if you got an iPhone and love skiing. You miss some of the cool features if you go for the free version, so I recommend paying for it to get it all.

Check it out here

As mentioned above, “Point de Vue” is a great “what’s that mountain over there?” application.

For trail maps, you can’t beat “SwissSnow” (for Switzerland). Data is provided by MySwitzerland (Swiss Tourism Org). They have daily updated snow heights, weather, and amzing trail maps.

This may be right up your street. France Montagnes which groups 101 major ski resorts in France have just launched an iPhone app which gives you piste maps, current events, webcams and weather. Sounds like just what you were looking for.

here is the link to the application

http://itunes.apple.com/app/ski-montagne/id342470298?mt=8

launch price is 79 Euro Cents. There seem to be some issues with the quality of the piste maps which are being resolved. The app is in English and French. At least it will help us avoid those gawdawful French flash websites that all the ski resorts seem to have these days.

Hey guys, just a quick review on the Prove it Iphone app. I spent the Christmas Break over in Tignes and hearing that the App has a resort specific function, I downloaded it. As with all Iphone apps, it makes full use of the touchscreen and use of menus for the many functions makes it very easy to use. The function i used most was the 3d maps which give you a fairly accurate estimation as to where your friends are on the Piste. The route pass function is also impressive. I would definitely give it a go as it runs pretty much the same software as Itrail maps:-

My brother has a new and nice application for this. It’s called SkiMaps.

It shows your location and those of your friends without needing an active internet connection on a real Ski Map.

features:
* Download trail maps to your iPhone and use the built-in GPS to find your way around the slopes.
* You can even send your location to friends. Finding each other in the mountains has never been easier!
* The best thing is that you don’t need an active internet connection.

Download the maps you’ll need in advance and everything you need on the slopes is right there on your iPhone. Your map is not in the list? Just send an email and he will add it asap.

site: SkiMaps

With his other app, you can even download Openpistemaps for offline use. This application is called CachedMaps.

You can always use your 3G from the phone, not searching for Wi-fi spots.
The SkiMaps app works only on iphone I think, but sportypal works on almost any phone.
