A snowboarder from the Lyon area had a poor start to his season on the opening day at Les Deux Alpes after a fall on the Jandri piste at 3200 meters. The man, aged in his 30s, suffered head injuries and was airlifted to hospital in Grenoble by a unit of the PGHM (mountain police service).
In a separate incident a walker aged 55 was killed after falling 40 meters at 14h30 today while walking with friends in the cime du Vallon du Rabioux above Embrun in the Hautes-Alpes. The victim, who was a resident of Châteauroux les Alpes in the same department, slid on black ice on a section of the path that crossed above cliffs.
