Ski-Areas > Jura > Jura (39) > Haut-Jura > Les Rousses > La Dole, figure of eight from la Cergue
From the parking at la Cergue (1170m) follow the path that climbs under la Barillette to la Vuarne. Continue under east side Pointe de Poêle Chaud to climb a steepish but short slope to the Châlet du Ski Club de Genève. Follow the slope around to the west to follow south facing slopes to the col de la Porte and the Châlet du Ski Club de Nyon. Follow the ridge line to the summit of la Dôle.
From the summit (radar station for Geneva airport) continue southwards and after the buildings descend a short slope to the south-east. From here there are three couloirs, the middle is the best line but may have a cornice. Ski to the bottom of the bowl below la Dôle. Refix your climbing skins to climb to the summit of la Barillette by the restaurant and antenna (north-east). Continue over the summit to pick up the old ski slopes to the left to return to the car-park. Do not descend through the forest as there are cliffs.
Unit the 1980s a single chair lift linked St Cergue with la Barilette. There was a beginners area on the summit with a piste descending back to the village.
Too much flat to be interesting to snowboarders.

A return to la Dole to discover the east couloirs. There was not enough snow directly below the radar post to ski the east face but the couloirs had snow. Don't descend too far from the radar station but turn almost immediately east after the last building to descend a short (25m) s/e slope to reach the top of the couloirs (cornices). The snow was just softening at 9am. I then reclimbed to la Barilette but made the mistake of cutting through the forest. Best to be patient and traverse across the summit by the antenna then follow the old ski slopes.
