Description

Pointe Dzerat
Pointe Dzérat and the combe Montarquis

Follow the Pointe du Midi south-west couloir then take the couloir Cu Déri to the north east. The first few meters are steep, it then opens into the combe Sauvage (wild bowl). At 1900 meters climb to the col de la Grotte de Montarquis (2103 meters). Descend the south east slopes of the Combe de Montarquis on the right hand side. After a plateau look for a narrow valley on the right hand bank of the bowl (1800m) then point 1657 meters to return to the col de la Colombiere. Otherwise descend to the north to regain the Sallaz carpark. The south-east slopes under the Pointe Dzérat are avalanche prone (one reason why the pass is closed during the winter and especially early spring).
