Transmontagne was created in 1991 to develop and run tourist centers mainly in France but also in the rest of Europe, China and Dubai.
The group has 3 main areas of activity :
Its best known project is the Dubai snowdome which opened in September 2005. It has recently won a contract to develop and run the ski resort of Yabuli in China.
Transmontagne is specialized in running second tier ski resorts with a turnover of between 2 et 10 million / annum and which represent around 70% of skier days in France.
On the 10th July 2007 Transmontage applied for bankruptcy protection from Lyon Commercial Court after it ran into financial difficulties and was unable to pay bills. The group was declared bankrupt on the 16th of October with the property arm bought by the Sofisel group and the ski lifts at Dévoluy and Praloup bought by the Financier Gaston Maulin who also runs les Sybelles in the Maurienne.

These resorts total 188 ski lifts over 645 km de pistes with 497 canons à neige. All these resorts are certified ISO9001 (year 2000 version) Transmontage has 250 permenant staff members and 1200 season workers.
