Description

After a long morning x-country on Saturday we decided to have a cool 2 hours downhill skiing on Sunday. Well it turned out to be very busy at Pre Rond due to a competition even if the pistes were fairly quiet. We spent the first hour skiing the secured off piste including the infamous "triangle d'Allevard". It really is impressively steep at the top, the steepness heightened as it plunges abruptly into a flat plateau. Last time we'd skied it must have been 5 years ago, this time rather than skiing the more secure ridgeline we skied the direct line of the summit before tracking around the cliff bands at the base. To complete the "steep" and "deep" programme we also tackled the Combe black from the top.

Conditions

Fresh snow on Saturday. Largely skied out off piste but still easy to ski.
