No Sign of Missing Snowshoers

Despite an extensive ground based search no trace of the missing Savoie snowshoers has been found.  The operation will continue over a wider area on Thursday but with fewer men and no helicopter due to the poor weather.

Hope of finding the man, a member of the Club Alpin Français and said to have a good knowledge of the mountains, and his female companion are fading.  David Petitjean, a Captain with the CRS commented “we’ve had a couple of days of fine weather with a helicopter search and there’s been no trace of the pair.

The couple’s car was found in a car-park at the ski resort of Pralognan-la-Vanoise (Savoie).  Empty snowshoe sacks were found inside.
