The German language news section of the ABS web site has an item dated 12th August 2011 about a recall of steel gas canisters with a filling date between 1st September 2008 and 15th April 2010 :

There doesn’t seem to be a translation to English but from a Google translate it looks like some canisters have had two discs fitted instead of one which means they may not pierce properly.

Thanks a lot for posting that. It sounds like a minor fault which could have major consequences if you were relying on your airbag.
