And a bit more information about the avalanche at les Contamines on the 23rd December

Around 11h00 a group of 9 skiers were heading to the Croix du Bonhomme. they were leaving a large gap while climbing when the 5th skier was hit by an avalanche. Eye witnesses localized the skier with their beacons but didn’t get a precise location when probing. The beacons showed the skier under 350cm of snow! After 45 minutes of digging, aided by the PGHM from Chamonix for the last meter they freed the woman’s head. She was conscious but in a state of hypothermia (body temperature at 30C). She was taken to hospital by helicopter where she has apparently made a full recovery.

A 14 year old girl was also buried by an avalanche at Aime 2000 on Christmas day near the old flying kilometer run. She was found very quickly by pisteurs and had no injuries.
