Three ski tourers were caught by a large avalanche at la Clusaz yesterday. The slide measured 50m by 600m. The slide was above the combe de Borderan. Eye witnesses raised the alarm and a major S&R operations involved 50 people from the piste services and civil security helicopter. As a security measure the piste services spent the rest of the afternoon probing the slide and checking with avalanche dogs (also good training for them). Two of the victims were injured and one was taken to hospital by helicopter. All three victims were wearing beacons. The slab broken on a large, open, convex slope.

At Saint-François-Longchamp a skier has been missing since yesterday. The rescue services have located his car but despite a search involving a helicopter, have found no other trace of the man.
