Sadly there have been several incidents in the last 24 hours due to heavy snowfalls on top of surface hoar from a prolonged very cold spell. Unconfirmed reports are that the bodies of two climbers have been recovered from the Buachaille Etive Mor near to where 3 others lost their lives Jan 09.  On Ben Nevis a climber was seriously injured from a slab, and in a seperate incident others had minor injuries.  Due to strong winds and slab formation, and the instablity within the snowpack a high avalanche risk is likely to remain in the coming days. Scotland is having a tremendous ski season and the Freeride/off piste steep skiing popularity has seen some near misses to skiers as well.
