Mottarone Loop, Lake Maggiore, Italy
50km loop linking the lakes Orta and Maggiore via the summit of the Mottarone mountain. The Orta lake road is u quite busy as is the road from Lake Maggiore to Gravellone Toce.
Stresa to Mottarone
This is the classic climb in the area to the ski resort of Mottarone from Stresa. From the coast road follow road signs for Mottarone near the Borremeo Palace Hotel.
Little Saint Bernard Pass
A big ride with Mike from Aime la Plagne to the Petit St Bernard pass. We'd heard it was still closed to traffic from la Ros so thought it would be a good plan.
Col de la Croix de Fer
Got the train to St Jean de Maurienne arriving in the early afternoon. A long 2h30 up to the col with a detour. It is a bit of a drag with hard climbing after St Sorlin.
Col du Galibier, France, North Side
DescriptionThe col du Galibier (2642 meters / 8668 ft) separates the French departments of the Savoie (Northern Alps) from the Hautes-Alpes (Southern Alps).
Fort St Eynard, Chartreuse, France
From the center of Grenoble this climb is a hard 1000 meters + of vertical. According to the ClimbByBike website it is in the top 500 of alpine climbs for difficulty.
Col de la Croix de Fer from Bourg d'Oisans
The Haute-Route sportif was crossing over the Glandon so quite a few police around. I cycled the Glandon both ascending and descending.
Col de la Madeleine Loop
A very pleasant loop just over the mythic 100km barrier for Stravassholes! :-) First big alpine col loop for me a long time for me. The Madeleine is a hors category category climb.
Grenoble the long way: Col du Coq/Col de Porte North
Decided to meet the missus and one of her friends in Grenoble for lunch. The idea was to cycle in and come back by car.
Secret Saleve - Sentier des Buis
Way back in 1948 the trail was known as the "Route de la Carrière" but dissapeared with the enlargement of the quarries.
