Description

Super refreeze but windy on the climb up with some cloud but sun for the descent with a little return to winter in the Venetiers. There was one spot of about 10m on the path that had no snow. The climb above the Aigleton was already warming up at 9.30 with a bit of an airy traverse with no crampons (we both had them in our sacks). We managed to skin all the way up the second steep. We spent quite a long time at the summit admiring the view and chatting with another group.

Descent from the summit of the Pra "diretissima" in fantastic snow for mid-May. 5-10cm of slabby powder. We took my "secret" route on the left bank of the Muret valley to avoid a few dry spots on the summer path. Skied down to 1480 with just 70 meters of portage to the car. Amazing snow for mid May. There are winters when the Venetier valley is barely skiable.
