Freydière Ski Touring

This is a very popular departure point given its proximity to Grenoble and the variety of routes accessible. In the winter months the road is not cleared of snow beyond les Granges de Freydiere (N 45.1871° E 05.8989°) at 1130 meters. Here there are two large car-parks but these can fill up quickly on fine winter weekends. From mid-March it is possible to drive to the Quatre Chemins (1283 meters) and then to Pre-Raymond (1372 meters) although the road is unsurfaced and often blocked by fallen trees.

Pic du Loup, Grande Lance and Pic de Belledonne

There is a short cut throught the forest from the Granges de Freydiere at 1210 meters to Pre-Raymond, normally the road is used for the return as this track is often icy and unskiable.
