Description

The ski resort of Saint-Gervais is situated in the Mont-Blanc area of the Haute-Savoie department in the Northern Alps region. It is part of the Evasion Mt-Blanc ski domain. The lift served area extends from 850 metres to 2350 metres. There are 420 km of lift served runs. There are 30 km of cross country trails. The resort features a snowpark and good amount of off piste that is usually left alone by the majority of visitors. Off piste clinics often move to St Gervais when neighbouring Chamonix isn't up to the job.

History

A 19th century spa town, St Gervais opened the Tramway du Mont Blanc in 1907 with the plan of building it all the way to the summit of Mont Blanc, this was a touch over-ambitious and instead the TMB takes skiers to the Bellvue/Prarion area above Les Houches. The first drag lift was opened at Le Bettex in 1936 and several other lifts followed in the next few years.
