The name implies the kind of ski you would take on a trip to explore the couloirs of Baffin island and indeed Fischer make much of its testing in extreme conditions. The ski is available in a wide range of sizes and this maybe accounts for its softness, both laterally and torsionally, generally expedition skis are both lighter and stiffer to cope with the extra weight of large backpacks. The softness works well in deep snow but its short radius (18m in 165cm) make it less stable at speed, for wide radius turns and in difficult snow conditions. Shaped skins are available.
