A resort worker was killed early on Friday morning in the Cote de Deux Mille ski area near Villard de Lans in the Vercors massif. The accident followed a party for pisteurs and season workers in a mountain restaurant.
Three members of the piste patrol decided to descend on skis around 2am and offered to take some of the other party goers on stretchers usually reserved for piste rescue. At the end of a black piste one of the pisteurs lost control of his stretcher which finished in a ravine. The 27 year old woman riding on the stretcher was killed by the impact. The pisteur faces prosecution and was immediately detained by the police.
