The excellent snow this year may permit the Pyrenean resort of Piau-Engaly to extend their season into May this year. There are plans to open, but in the mornings only when the conditions will be better and to preserve the remaining snow. Much depends on the availability of staff and the amount of fresh snow in April. The installation of new ‘magic carpet’ lifts will ensure the return to resort if there is insufficient snow at this level.
We’re waiting for confirmation of this rumour, the plans seem to be top-secret, so don’t tell anyone!
