Petzl is organising a Mountain Safety Workshop as part of this year’s Derby de la Meije on the 29th March to 2nd April.
The aim of the workshop is to familiarize skiers, snowboarders and telemarkers with safe backcountry travel and rescue techniques required in high mountain terrain. Training sessions covering the use of avalanche transceivers and search and rescue will take place during the training week before the famous descent on the 2nd of April.
Specialist climbing gear manufacturer, Petzl and the la Grave Guides office are organising a crevasse rescue workshop on the 30th and 31st of March. Inscriptions are on the day before each event at the Derby Meeting Point.
The Derby is the world’s premier freeride event. 1000 competitors race down the famous 1800 meter la Grave site. Last year’s winner, Raphael Ruffier completed the course with an incredible time of 5 minutes 55 seconds for the 1800 meters descent.
