It seems like it was just yesterday that people were dropping like flies in record temperatures here in France and in another few weeks the ski season will kick off with the Mondial du Snowboard and Ski at les Deux Alpes. The 25th-28th of October sees the 14th edition of the Mondial du Snowboard and 31st October to 2nd November the 6th Mondial du Ski. Two key dates to get the 2003-2004 season underway.
Mondial du Snowboard, Les Deux Alpes, 2002 vintage
40,000 people visited the events last year. This year all the leading ski and snowboard makers will be represented and it will be possible to test this seasons equipment if you have an ID with you. Pro events take place on the 28th of October for snowboarding and 3rd November for skiing. There will be a jump mattress available for budding amateurs wanting to train for the competitions. Down below the village hosts skate, rollerblading and BMX events. With the first snows already falling on the Mont du Lans glacier things are shaping up for a great event after a difficult summer.
Pistehors will be covering both events this year, check back in early November for our full report. For more information see the web sites: mondialdusnow.com and mondialduski.com
