American skier, Andrew McLean and his group set out to explore Baffin Island over three weeks in the late spring, 2004. Situated in the icy Canadian Artic Ocean it is the home of polar bears who would have just been waking up after a long winter’s snooze and who presumably wouldn’t have said no to snacking on a passing skier or two!

Polar bears are not the only danger and Andrew’s team not the first to reevaluate their plans on the hoof. After being battered by gale force winds they finally made it to the couloirs of Qiajivik peak and over to Nova Zembla Island for a memorable end to their journey.
