Backcountry Snowboarding

Let’s face it; snowboards were not really made for bumping down hard ski pistes, dodging skiers in bright pink ski suits.  They were made for gliding across acres of fresh powder, carving wide turns in the virgin snow.

However when it comes to accessing the backcountry the tables are turned against boarders.  We’ve put together an article on backcountry snowboarding reviewing the options available along with some tips for organising a trip.

To get equipped European online snowboard retailer Blue Tomato is running a winter sale.  Amongst the items that caught our eyes were Burton Face-S Splitboards designed for women and reduced from 999€ to 699€.  The ABS airbag system reduced from 580€ to 350€, making this an extemely interesting piece of off-piste safety kit.  Duotone touring skins are also reduced from 150€ to 99€, these should also fit the Voilé splitboard but check first.
