Avalanche Review

In the autumn edition of the Avalanche Review, PisteHors’ editor David George (Davidof) has written a very comprehensive review of the events surrounding the Montroc avalanche of February 1999 in which 12 people lost their lives. The article is based on a number of primary and secondary sources and as well as being a jolly good read, it gives a technical overview of the reasons for the tragic events.

The Avalanche Review is the journal of the respected American Avalanche Association and is read by avalanche professionals worldwide. We are very pleased for David. This also shows PisteHors’ commitment to safety as well providing information to backcountry skiers.

Hi,

There is a version of the Montroc Article on this site.  The AAA did quite a bit of editing on the version they published.
