A Guide and Two Clients Killed by Avalanche

An avalanche has killed two people including a guide and seriously injured another on Thursday in the Entraigues sector of Vallouise in the Hautes-Alpes.

The three victims, all French, were part of the same group and were climbing a waterfall at 1600 meters at 17h00 when they were hit by the slide.  The guide and two clients were killed instantly.  The third, seriously injured, still managed to struggle to a rescue post where, three hours later, he gave the alert.  He was taken to hospital in Briançon were he is said to be out of danger.  24 people were involved in the rescue effort.
