Just six months after suffering from a serious accident on Pumori in Nepal Corinne Favre has established a record for the fastest climb of the 4000 meter Dome des Ecrins from L’Argentière-la-Bessée 3000 meters below. Corinne was accompanied by Nathalie Bourillon for the climb which they covered in 5h10.
The pair started on bikes from the Argentière town hall and took 1h08 to climb to the pré de Madame Carle where they started the climb to the Dôme des Ecrins on touring skis. The climb was made harder by strong winds and frozen snow with the pair taking turns at the front.
Corinne Favre was injured by a large serac fall on the descent from the 7,000 meter Pumori on the 2nd of November 2008. She spent a number of weeks in hospital.
It has been a spring for record breaking. On the 23rd of April 2009 Dynafit athletes Nicolas Bonnet and Mattéo Eydallin set a record of 2h51 metes for the Barre des Ecrins, this time from the Refuge Cézanne. A climb of 2230 meters. Bonnet hopes to break the record for the climb to the summit of Mont-Blanc.
