The French National Association for the Study of Snow and Avalanches is going on the road again with its series of 1 day conferences on snow safety. From November to January the “Avalanche Days” will visit Lyon, Annecy, Romans and Nice.
The conferences bring together leading experts in avalanche rescue, avalanche safety and snow science with backcountry and off piste enthusiasts. They give participants the chance to profit from the expertise and knowledge of others. The “days” are aimed at ski tourers, freeriders, climbers and snowshoers who want to develop their knowledge and approach to the mountains in winter.
1. Core knowledge of Snow and Avalanches
2. Human factors
3. Reading the avalanche bulletin
4. Route planning on maps and on the ground
5. Accidents and rescue
The team of guides, forecasters, trainers and rescuers will put the emphasis on practical knowledge with interaction from participants during the day. The aim is not just to supply knowledge but to demonstrate tools and methods usable by anyone who wants to venture into the mountains in winter.
