If you are at the Metro Ski Show held at the NEC Birmingham on the 3rd to 5th of November you may be interested in a series of talks covering Avalanche Safety and Backcountry skiing in Canada. The talks are organised by Canadian Powder Skiing Adventures, a Canadian based guiding company.
Peter Buchholz tells us they are running these talks in conjunction with the Canadian Avalanche Associated (CAA) and would like to encourage as many people in the ski industry as possible to attend. The talks will be presented by Brad Harrison an advisory member of the CAA, president of the Backcountry lodges of British Columbia association and ACMG guide. Brad will also be available throughout the three days (3rd -5th November) to talk to anyone about ski touring and mountaineering in Canada and about the role of the Canadian Avalanche Association.
If you have not been to Canada, or if you want to go again Peter says that they have organized a competition prize in conjunction with Extreme Sports Channel. It is a £5,000 all inclusive holiday to Canada including three days of cat skiing. Understandably he would really like somebody who can ski to win it rather than one of Extreme Sports skater bois.
There is more detail of the competition here: http://www.canadianpowder.co.uk/
