It seems like the poor winter has not disuaded ski resorts from further large investments. Three ski stations in the Hautes-Alpes, Pra Loup, Super Sauze and Saint Anne la Condamine plan to invest 30 to 40 million euros to update their lifts and invest in further snowmaking. The aim, as ever is to remain competitive at an international level and attract high spending foreign guests. The community of communes of the Ubaye doesn’t have this kind of money nor do the resorts so they will be looking for aid from the regional and national governements and the European Union. However with French budgets tight and EU money now flowing to more impoverished regions to the east it is hard to see the sums adding up.
