Extreme skier Jean-Noel Urban has had to abandon his attempt to ski the Norton (Great) Couloir of Everest. Urban described the conditions as “light snow, wind blown, barely sitting on the rocks - windslabs and air pockets - made the conditions extremely dangerous”. The Serre Chevalier ski instructor did a few turns when the whole slope slide around him. To go further would have been “suicide”. He said he was happy to have reached the summit.
Judging from the photo Jean-Noel has swapped his lightweight Dynafit SR competition skis for the 2007-8 Gasherbrum II skis. However it looks as if he has the new trick super lightweight Dynafit low tech race bindings.
