I thought I would do a bit of publicity for local ski resort Chamrousse. Everyone has taken the PisteHors article about Transmontagne going bust

and Bachat Bouloud

very seriously. On another forum someone described seeing the photos in the Bachat Bouloud article and thinking Chamrousse was like downtown Kabul.
Well we were up there sledging on Saturday (15th November 2008). There is a good base of about 20cm of heavy powder at the Roche Beranger side (1750m) and more snow higher up.
The resort development is continuing. The lifts are now run by Chamrousse town council. We saw some of the old apartments in the Roche Be’ had been done up with new cladding and curved “sports center” style roofs. Also some new chalets.
This “rose tinted” photo shows the Roche Be’ with the Vercors, including the mythical Aiguille du Midi, in the distance.
Everything looks set for the coming season. It was a real pea-souper in Grenoble that day.
