6 of the Best… Meribel Bars

This season I was out in Meribel, it was an awesome season despite the limited snowfall, and I’m certain it was the lively apres and nightlife scene that kept everyone stoked throughout some of the snow-less weeks. Here’s my pick of some of the best bars out in resort…

Jack’s Bar

Situated at Méribel Chaudanne next to Evolution restaurant lies Jack’s bar, a lively bar with a very friendly atmosphere. With live bands playing at après, a generous happy hour, and some fantastic nights (“toss the boss” is not to be missed!) it’s no wonder that Jack’s is a firm favourite with Méribel’s seasonaire population. Jack’s also serves some great bar food, think overflowing plates of nachos, hot dogs, and big pizzas!

Evolution Bar & Restaurant

For those with a slightly more refined palate head next door to Evolution bar and restaurant where you can sample their fine à la carte selection. Alongside this Evolution also caters nicely to the English ex-pat population with Fish & Chip Fridays, Full-English breakfasts, and Sunday roasts. They also run themed weekly all you can eat buffets, from tapas to thai Evolution has it covered!

Lodge Du Village

The Lodge du Village or LDV for short is situated right in the heart of Méribel Village, the perfect location for a spot of après after a hard days skiing or snowboarding. On the top floor bar area, The Lodge offers a fine selection of beers, wine, cocktails, and coffee so whatever your flavour, there’ll be something for you. With a great (and well-priced) Italian restaurant underneath there’s almost no need to go home… in fact holidaymakers and seasonaires alike can regularly be found dancing in full snow gear until the wee hours at the Lodge’s incredible live music nights.

PUB (Doron Hotel)

As one of the larger bars in Méribel centre the PUB offers a night out experience that is second to none! With one of the cheapest Happy Hours in town it certainly attracts a big crowd that more than fills this large venue. With big screens and pool tables at one end, and a band stage and shooter bar at the other it’s no surprise that things can get more than a little bit rowdy here on a Friday night!

But then who wants a quiet night in on a Friday anyway…

Meribar

A great place to start your day with the best priced coffee in town! Meribar is a popular choice among Méribel’s ski instructors before the start of morning lessons, and due to its close proximity to the lifts it’s a great choice for a quick lunch, particularly if you’re doing a ski instructors course.

Rond Point

Situated slope side at (surprise, surprise) the Rond Point des Pistes, the Rond Point is a great place to finish a hard day on the slopes. With a massive outdoor terrace overlooking the piste, live bands, an outdoor BBQ, and a snack bar the Rond Point (or Ronnie for short) is a very popular spot to finish the day. That combined with the most reasonably priced pitchers in Méribel makes it an ideal place for holidaymakers and seasonaires alike to kick off their après ski. And if you’re hungry we’d recommend the Baguette Américaine – Steak, Cheese, Onions, and fries all in one big baguette… not for the feint hearted!

Loads davidof! At least 10 in the town centre, not including the hotel bars… then there’s a fair few on slope and down in the villages below the centre.

It’s a good place for a beer or two that’s for sure… and for skiing or snowboarding too of course!

Granted the lift queues were super busy around half term and easter time, but for the rest of the season they were pretty much non-existant… which was a pleasant surprise to say the least.

Ice wasn’t so much of a problem this year it was more the slush…

Ronny is always good for a few jugs after skiing/riding and the amount of people you’d see still in their ski boots at midnight was incredible.

Anyone else with a favorite mountain bar?

Yeah! http://www.hennustall.ch/ in Zermatt. Live bands in the “high season”. I have fond and blurry memories of this place.
