Technical

Minimum altitude: 1,573 meters

Distance: 16.1 km

Slope Aspect: West

Vertical Climbed: 763 meters (2,503 feet)

Vertical Descended: 800 meters

Description

I was on classic skis. The sand layer is still omnipresent below 2000m, the second it warms up the new snow melts. For all the talk of "endless winter" and great conditions it is not as good as 2019. Still a good bit of classic skiing and working a bit on technique. Lots of surprised marmottes who have reconquered the mountain since Covid-19.

Conditions

I put on skis at 1700 meters around the top of the first climb, There was then about 300 meters of bare slope after the Oudis turn. Good refreeze and snow very hard at 9am, must better to ski an hour later. Good snow above 1750 meters in general but not as good at 2019 tbh.
