Météo France stops daily avalanche bulletins

Over a month earlier than usual, the French weather service has decided to halt its daily avalanche bulletin service. With the closure of ski resorts and the lock-down there is a lack of personnel on the ground to send accurate data back to compile the bulletins and there are few people moving around the mountains. The service is also used by local government for emergency planning but Météo France still has a reduced bulletin and an alerting system for any unusual events.

The French mountain rescue no longer have any medical staff, they have been redeployed to hospitals, they are now operating a skeleton service The mountain rescue are hoping that people are respecting the confinement. In the case of an accident they would either fly with no doctor on board or wait for a doctor to arrive at the drop zone.
