Description

Rumour had it that le Sappey was opening up. Well it seems to have been a bit of rumour that also caught out one of the piste workers as the area had not been pisted. After doing a tour he told me he was going to fetch a groomer to open things up but I left before seeing him again. Local instructor Chris Imbert had classic skied the night before and his tracks were visible so I double polled up the Plantibert piste to where it gets steep (beyond my arm strength on skating skis) then skied down in the powder and made my own shot trail on skate one (offset) and skate two (v1) before skiing back to the car. Only a few kms but nice to ski at le Sappey this year!

Conditions

10cm of fresh, cold powder snow on a base
