Ski tourer killed by avalanche close to la Plagne

A ski tourer has been killed by a large avalanche under the summit of the Combe Bénite opposite the ski resort of La Plagne yesterday (15/12). According to the rescue services the slide took out the entire face.

The man was descending with a friend on the east side of the summit when he triggered the slide and was taken 40 meters over cliffs. The victim had an airbag and avalanche beacon but appears to have been killed by injuries sustained in the slide. He was an experienced, local skier.
