Vertical Climbed: 400 meters (1,312 feet)
Avalanche Risk: 3
Snowline: 1,030
The original plan for the day was to ski in the Bauges but with 30cm of fresh snow and poor weather in the morning my friends decided to stay local with a "safe" option. I decided to take the "tot" up to the col du Coq, we'd done this a couple of years ago after school but we were going to climb from the skiable snowline today. A bigger proposition. Starting from le Baure we climbed up through the fields to reach the road around 1300m. It had rained to 1400 m so the snow was either crust, or humid where it had seen the sun, or old powder on slopes that had stayed in the shade all day. A bit of a mixed bag. Tot was on slalom skis but skied well considering.
Route Taken: Climbed and skied the fields between the col du Coq and le Baure/les Meunieres
Weather: Sunny, cold at the col du Coq. SW wind.
