Change of programme to skating on the Chemin de l'Herse. The ski resort of St Hilaire closed yesterday and even if it wasn't that busy it was even lonelier on the pistes today. A lot of guys playing soldiers in the ruins of the Sanatoriums with their very realistic softair guns, it looked like the Crimea.
The Herse trail was reasonably well pisted with good snow, a bit soft in some places which was a surprise. On the return the sun had dipped behind the Chartreuse and the surface snow was refreezing which made for interesting skiing - a kind of breakable crust which trapped skis.
Weather: Sunny, 19C in the valley. Lots of thawing.
