After user feedback during training exercises and service inspections Ortovox have discovered an issue with their S1+ avalanche transceiver. The company described the issue as "very rare". It affects the transmission function due to a component failure.
Ortovox have decided to make a precautionary recall of all S1+ beacons so the component can be replaced. Ortovox say that S1+ beacons should no longer be used until they have been serviced. The issue only affects the S1+ (plus) transceiver. Now the really bad news. The service center in Germany currently has a six week backlog, which takes us through to, well pretty much the end of the ski season.
