Description

Route

From the Clots car park head south into the Fauge valley in the direction of the Combe Charbonnière (signpost) to the west slopes of the Gerbier. Traverse while ascending to the south on the west slopes of the Gerbier. The west couloir appears at the top of a funnel between two rock towers. Note the snow on the west facing slopes can be hard and the route is exposed, take care with timings.

Other routes

  • Pas de l'Oeille (Ski 2.1 ; West)
    A pretty trip for beginner ski tourers even if the skiing is limited. Climb the Fauge valley to the Combe Charbonnière. Climb the Combe Charbonnière and at the top traverse the slopes under the Gerbier to the south to the Pas de l'Oeille which is clearly visible.
  • Arête du Rasoir (Ski 4.1 ; North-West)
    When you traverse the combe Charbonnière, and before reaching the base of the west couloir, climb a NW couloir that ends on a ridge to the north of the West Couloir.
