Missing Skier Found Dead in Flaine Fissure

Mysantropedesroches reports on SkiPass.com that a 35 year old man has been found dead in one of the many fissures that cover the Flaine ski domain.

He was found this evening in the Balachat sector by pisteurs.  He had been missing since the previous day.  He was found head downwards wedged in one of these fissures or Lapiaz as they are called.  These fissures are formed by the action of acidic rain on the limestone of the area.  It is possible that he had become disoriented by the bad weather conditions.

Skiers are reminded to take extreme care skiing off piste in the Flaine domain.
