Meta SkiRando

So you are thinking of doing a ski tour somewhere in France? It would be nice to know the current conditions from someone who has done the route. Who to consult? The Office de Haute Montagne in Cham might have some information. What about the forums? Camp2Camp, Bivouak? It is all going to take a lot of time and a lot of sifting through various websites.

Well a solution is at hand. Multitalented Nat Schaeffer of the Nimp Crew has programmed Meta SkiRando. This tool searches through various ski touring websites to show you the latest trip reports. You can sort by region or just look for extreme skiing (pente raide) if you like. Given that the interfaces to each site are different and somewhat esoteric it is no mean feat.

Meta SkiRando - a ski touring search engine.

Regulars of PisteHors.com will remember that Nat was seriously injured in an avalanche last May and is confined to a wheel chair. It is nice to see that he retains his enthusiasm for the mountains.
