Dynafit hits the top with new Dy.N.A. ski mountaineering boot

Dynafit have picked up a coveted ISPO 2009 Outdoor Award in the “footware” category for their revolutionary Dy.N.A ski mountaineering boot. The boot is the result of two years of intensive development and replaces the aging TLT 4. According to a happy Benedikt Boehm, Sales & Marketing Manager at Dynafit, “It will change the market for ski mountaineering boots forever”. It certainly marks the return of Dynafit to the leading edge of ski touring competition.

The Dy.N.A. has three key features. Extreme lightweight, unequalled skiing and walking comfort and a revolutionary ski/walk system that can change mode in an instant. Boehm paid hommage to Mario Sartor and his team based at Montebelluna in Italy who designed the boot, calling it a “masterpiece”.

Weighing in at under 2lbs (920gr) for Mondo size 27.5 (Euro 42/43), The DyNA is sure to be one of the lightest and best skiing, commercially made rando race boot on the market next year, they will be in hot demand with such a small production run. Some quick highlights:

* Top front buckle opens to allow for easy entry and adjustment of cuff tightness.
* Rear cuff buckle (patented ultralock system) swings outward and works simultaneously as ski/walk mechanism, and tightening of the carbon cuff.
* Cordura tongue reduces weight and keeps snow out of the liner, important for lycra clad ski mountaineers
* 62° of cuff movement in walk mode.
* Patented Acti-Flex-Zone in the toe allows for 5mm of flex for walking comfort and an effective transfer of energy.
* Carbon cuff keeps the shell both light and stiff.
* Carbon cap in the front stops the boot toe from collapsing when skiing.
