New off piste operator for Chamonix in 2008/9

If you were wondering how to start or improve you off piste skiing skills or get into backcountry skiing you may be interested to know that the British Alpine Ski School based in Chamonix is launching a programme of off piste, backcountry and performance courses for next winter. The courses will be run in partnership with other local providers.

BASS Chamonix has already been in operation for four years in the Chamonix Valley delivering high quality ski lessons. BASS Chamonix, Director Derek Tate tells us that, “BASS Adventures offers a unique and fresh approach to delivering performance courses through the partnerships we have built up with other course providers. These partnerships include Wilderplaces Alpine, Alpine Coaching and top instructor & mountaineer Alison Culshaw The benefits of this approach are twofold; One, our clients benefit from some of the best professionals in their field and two, our partners get to develop & invest in their own business. A real win-win situation for all concerned.”

This season BASS Adventures range of courses will include;
- Pre-season Performance Course in Hintertux, Austria
- Mountaineers’ Off Piste Courses in Chamonix, France
- Backcountry Courses in Chamonix, France
- Weekend Off Piste Courses in Chamonix, France

One of the advantages of these courses is the combination of using a ski instructor and a mountain guide. This enables clients to develop the right technical skiing skills for the whole mountain while learning about safe travel away from the pistes in the mountain environment.
