The Keys to the Trois Vallées

After his excellent Keys to Paradiski Didier Givois, photographer and ski guide, is back with a new book covering the off-piste in the ski resorts of the Three Vallees: Val Thorens, Meribel-Mottaret and Courchevel. With over 600km of marked ski runs the Trois Vallées are the biggest ski area in the world and the lifts also give access to a vast off-piste area. In nearly a decade in the resort three times Freeride world champion Manu Gaidet says he still hasn’t explored every corner of the domain.

cles de trois vallees

This 288 page book is a mine of information, written in both French and English. Unlike the Vamos guides the information is extremely detailed and is a reference for any freeride aficionados. Givois also gives a steer on the dangers of each itinerary. Anyone who has read the Keys of Paradiski will recall that he describes les Arcs Lanchette couloir, scene of two avalanche fatalities last winter, as extremely avalanche prone. In short, don’t leave home without this book.

Hi Fraser,

It has taken awhile for this book to be stocked but if you have an Amazon account you can order it from the French Amazon website.. It is also available on the FNAC Website with a shorter delivery time.

Is this available from shops in the resort or from any UK websites now?

I don’t know anyone in the UK that has it but you can find it in some resort shops. Otherwise Didier will send it to you:-

http://www.givois.com/

He speaks English (has an English wife).

The FNAC will also ship to the UK.

Let me know if you need more info.
