Les Deux Alpes Free Respect 2006/7

For the last eight years, Les Deux Alpes has been raising awareness amongst its clients to the risks and dangers posed by mountains as part of its Free Respect programme. Contrary to the sea the mountains are at their most dangerous when they appear most tranquil, blanketed by fresh powder. Going off piste requires an understanding of the basics of safety (appropriate equipment, knowledge of snow, orientation, emergencies) even if you are skiing with a professional, guide or ski instructor.

The Free Respect programme combines theoretical and practical training on mountains-craft: the various workshops highlight the risks related to skiing or boarding off piste, the presentation and use safety equipment (avalanche beacons, shovels and probes). Free Respect offers participants the chance to exchange information and chat with professionals. The Freeride sessions are supervised by pro-snow boarders, piste patrollers, high mountain guides and ski instructors.

Free Respect is a held on two days per week, from 1 January to 17 April 2007 and what is more it is free and open to all!
