URBAN RIDE 07 - Competition winner announced

The first ever Urban Ride series was created in the Autumn as part of the British National Snowsports Tour 2007.  The event took place from the 30th October to 6th November 2007.  The tour travelled around the UK’s premiere skiing venues offering free to the public taster lessons for beginners, freestyle and freeride coaching, equipment advice, film premiere’s, fitness talks, mountain safety and a freestyle shows from the British World Cup half pipe riders. The addition of the Urban Ride 07 event series generated great interest from a youth audience and a massive amount of UK freestyle ski talent presented itself.

The overall winner of the Urban Ride 07 was Chris Benner from Norfolk.  He won a holiday for 2 to Switzerland worth £1500.  The 2007 tour was funded with the continual support of Snow + Rock and Switzerland Tourism.  Due to the success of the Urban Ride 07, Ride Freesport will be expanding the Urban Ride 08 series in the UK to run through the month of October and qualify riders for the London Ride 08.  More news to follow on this tour in the spring.  For all tour photos and news visit http://www.snowsports-tour.co.uk.
